THE TRUTH REVEALED

THE TRUTH REVEALED

Peace and blessings of Allah be upon Prophet Muhammad his family and companions and upon Jesus Son of Mary, and other Prophets of God.

Can Muslims Celebrate Christmas?.

Muslims may not celebrate “Christmas”, but may celebrate the Milad of Isa bin Maryam (birthday of Jesus Son of Mary-Peace be upon them). They should differ from other faiths the way of celebrating . Muslims may celebrate the Birthdays of all Prophets and all holy people as much as they can.

Quran says: 2:285“We make no distinction between any of His messengers.”.….

You must understand Christianity is different and Jesus Christ (A.S) is different. We have more rights to Prophets than anyone else!, especially Jesus Son of Mary (A.S), the last leader of this this nation.

As for Isa Son of Mary (A.S) he is closer to Muslims than any other people. He is closer to this nation, as he is coming to this nation as a leader in the end of times.  So we are celebrating the birthday of the Last Prophet (alaihiswalathu wa salam). We are conducting Mawlid celebrations in different days and months to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). So it is not necessary to know the birthday of the Prophet Jesus Christ (A.S).

Islam did not make it obligatory (fard) to celebrate the birthdays of all Prophets, because God Almighty does not want to burden the people. Especially in the times of Prophets they did not celebrate the birthdays of previous Prophets, as we see the birthday celebrations today. Because in the time of Prophets and their companions, they were in most difficult times, and hardships, and they had much heavy duty.  This is why they celebrated it by fasting or by sacrificing their worldly pleasures.

The Prophet Muhamamd (s.a.w) says: Sahih Bukhari ,Narrated Abu Huraira: Two persons, a Muslim and a Jew, quarrelled. The Muslim said, “By Him Who gave Muhammad superiority over all the people! The Jew said, “By Him Who gave Moses superiority over all the people!” At that the Muslim raised his hand and slapped the Jew on the face. The Jew went to the Prophet and informed him of what had happened between him and the Muslim. The Prophet sent for the Muslim and asked him about it. The Muslim informed him of the event. The Prophet said, “do not give me superiority over Moses, for on the Day of Resurrection all the people will fall unconscious and I will be one of them, but I will. be the first to gain consciousness, and will see Moses standing and holding the side of the Throne (of Allah). I will not know whether (Moses) has also fallen unconscious and got up before me, or Allah has exempted him from that stroke.”  (Book 41, Hadith 594)

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: A man from the Jews, having been slapped on his face, came to the Prophet and said, “O Muhammad! A man from your companions from the Ansar has slapped me on my face!” The Prophet said, “Call him.” When they called him, the Prophet said, “Why did you slap him?” He said, “O Allah’s Apostle! While I was passing by the Jews, I heard him saying, ‘By Him Who selected Moses above the human beings,’ I said, ‘Even above Muhammad?’ I became furious and slapped him on the face.” The Prophet said, “do not give me superiority over the other prophets, for on the Day of Resurrection the people will become unconscious and I will be the first to regain consciousness. Then I will see Moses holding one of the legs of the Throne. I will not know whether he has come to his senses before me or that the shock he had received at the Mountain, (during his worldly life) was sufficient for him.”  (Bukhari,Book 60, Hadith 162)

This is enough to understand that, if someone wish to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Moses (A.S), Prophet Jesus (A.S) or Prophet Abraham (A.S) he cannot be stopped. I do not think Ulema of Ahlu Sunnah will do so!

“Christmas” is an established celebration which is a mix of Pagan traditions and Christian beliefs of Jesus Christ (A.S). As for Muslims, they may take every opportunity to convey the truth about Jesus Christ (A.S) and his mother during the christian occasions.  Muslims may not say “Christmas or Merry Christmas”, they may say: “Eid Milaad Nabi Esa” or Mawlid Messiah Isa Ibn Maryam, or Celebrating the Birthday of Jesus Christ (A.S) instead of “Merry Christmas”. They may celebrate in other days than December 25, or join two days celebration either December 24 and 25 or December 25 and 26, or in the mothers where the dates harvest time of Israel

Because , the Prophet (s.a.w) says:  Sahih Bukhari,Narrated Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri: the Prophet said, “You will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, span by span and cubit by cubit (i.e., inch by inch) so much so that even if they entered a hole ofa mastigure, you would follow them.” We said, “O Allah’s Apostle! (Do you mean) the Jews and theChristians?” He said, “Whom else?”  (Book 92, Hadith 422)

It does not mean that every act other faith is doing is rejected in Islam, because the Prophets were Muslims, and the Muslims can respect and accept that which is commanded to the previous Prophets.  What is forbidden and imitating Jews and Christians means to follow that which is deviated from the teachings of their Prophets. For this reasons, Christmas  cannot be celebrated the way it is celebrated by the Christians or Western Secularists.

The Prophet (S.a.w) celebrating Ashura:

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas: The Prophet came to Medina and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura. He asked them about that. They replied, “This is a good day, the day on which Allah rescued Bani Israel from their enemy. So, Moses fasted this day.” The Prophet said, “We have more claim over Moses than you.” So, the Prophet fasted on that day and ordered (the Muslims) to fast (on that day).  (Sahih Bukhari Book 31, Hadith 222)

Narrated Abu Musa: The day of ‘Ashura’ was considered as ‘Id day by the Jews. So the Prophet ordered, “I recommend you (Muslims) to fast on this day.”  (Sahih Bukhari, Book 31, Hadith 223)

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas: When the Prophet came to Medina, he found (the Jews) fasting on the day of ‘Ashura’ (i.e. 10th of Muharram). They used to say: “This is a great day on which Allah saved Moses and drowned the folk of Pharaoh. Moses observed the fast on this day, as a sign of gratitude to Allah.” The Prophet said, “I am closer to Moses than they.” So, he observed the fast (on that day) and ordered the Muslims to fast on it.  (Book 55, Hadith 609)

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “Both in this world and in the Hereafter, I am the nearest of all the people to Jesus, the son of Mary. The prophets are paternal brothers; their mothers are different, but their religion is one.”  (Sahih Bukhari, Book 55, Hadith 652)

So the Muslims may celebrate the Birthday of Jesus Christ (A.S) and differ from others celebrating it.

Abdullah b. ‘Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported that (the Arabs of) pre-Islamic days used to observe fast on the day of Ashura and the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed it and the Muslims too (observed it) before fasting in Ramadan became obligatory. But when it became obligatory, the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: ‘Ashura is one of the days of Allah, so he who wished should observe fast and he who wished otherwise should abandon it.  (Sahih Muslim,Book 006, Hadith 2504)

Quran 3:45 [And mention] when the angels said, “O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary – distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah ].

WHY SHOULD NOT WE FOLLOW THE WAYS OF OTHER FAITHS AND SECULARISTS IN CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS /BIRTHDAY OF JESUS SON OF MARY (PEACE BE UPON THEM):

The Main reason is “We should not imitate other nations. The Prophet (s.a.w) said: “Whoever imitate a nation is one of them”

The Main fallacy of Church and those who say “We are guided by holy spirit” is that they Christianize the celebrations of the Pagans in the Winter.   We say a proverb in Malayalam, which is like “the beauty cream applied on face became skin burn” . Whether they acknowledge it or not. They have brought dishonor to the birth of Christ (A.S) and celebrating his Birth in the winter Pagan festival time.

In Europe December is winter time, short sunlight , people get winter syndromes and depression, this may be the reason why they made to celebrate Christmas this times.  But by Christianize the pagan celebration it bring dishonor to the holy one who is the one of the greatest Prophets of God.
This is the celebration every lawless life style is evoked. The desires of the ego is served. Alcohol, Gambling, free sex, free mixing of men and women, this is not acceptable in the ways of God.  This time it is promoted materialism lawlessness and self destruction. Because people not returning to the the Message that Christ (A.S) gave to this world!.
So it is the responsibility of Muslims to remind others during this times the purpose of life and the Message of Jesus Christ (A.S).

The Bible says:[Colossians 2:8 NIV] See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

The Bible says: According to Jehova’s Witnesshttp://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/questions/bible-about-christmas/

The Bible’s answer

The Bible does not give the date of Jesus’ birth, nor does it say that we should celebrate his birthday. As McClintock and Strong’s Cyclopediastates: “The observance of Christmas is not of divine appointment, nor is it of NT [New Testament] origin.

Instead, an examination of the history of Christmas exposes its roots in pagan religious rites. The Bible shows that we offend God if we try to worship him in a way that he does not approve of.—Exodus 32:5-7.

History of Christmas customs

  1. Celebrating Jesus’ birthday: The early Christians did not celebrate [Jesus’] birth because they considered the celebration of anyone’s birth to be a pagan custom.”—The World Book Encyclopedia.

  2. December 25: There is no proof that Jesus was born on that date. Church leaders likely chose this date to coincide with pagan festivals held on or around the winter solstice.

  3. Gift-giving, feasting, partying: The Encyclopedia Americanasays: “Saturnalia, a Roman feast celebrated in mid-December, provided the model for many of the merry-making customs of Christmas. From this celebration, for example, were derived the elaborate feasting, the giving of gifts, and the burning of candles.” The Encyclopædia Britannica notes that “all work and business were suspended” during Saturnalia.

  4. Christmas lights: According to The Encyclopedia of Religion, Europeans decorated their homes “with lights and evergreens of all kinds” to celebrate the winter solstice and to combat evil spirits.

  5. Mistletoe, holly: The Druids ascribed magical properties to the mistletoe in particular. The evergreen holly was worshiped as a promise of the sun’s return.”—The Encyclopedia Americana.

  6. Christmas tree: Tree worship, common among the pagan Europeans, survived after their conversion to Christianity.” One of the ways in which tree worship survived is in the custom of “placing a Yule tree at an entrance or inside the house in the midwinter holidays.”—Encyclopædia Britannica.

Conclusion:

As Muslims, we may join any invitations if it fulfills the law of Islam , that when no contradiction to our faith is practiced.  Some fools say: We should not celebrate the Birthday of Nabi Isa (A.S), the same people using Bible to preach (Dawah) Islam. Is that allowed in Islam? . You can see them in their TV Channels and Youtube.

Quran 3:84 Say, “We have believed in Allah and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him.”

Quran 3:104 And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful.

SAWLIHEEN (RIGHTEOUS) AMONG THE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK:

Quran 3:113 -114 They are not [all] the same; among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses of Allah during periods of the night and prostrating [in prayer].They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous.

Quran 89:27 -28 [To the righteous it will be said], “O reassured soul,Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

The world turning to so much corruption, violence lawlessness, and intolerance. This is not the purpose of religions. So we must keep a good conduct with all people and help them to come to righteousness and faith, not by dishonoring and defaming them. But through love, mercy and service according to the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (alaihiswalathu wa salam)

Can Muslim ask Jew or Christian to pray for him?:

Some foolish one’s attack Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s humbleness when meeting with Pope and asking his prayers. But this Jahils (ignorant ones)  think they know religion better than Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Al-Haqqani (Q.S)

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Amra bint Abd ar-Rahman that Abu Bakr as-Siddiq visited A’isha while she had a [health] complaint and a Jewish woman was making incantation (ruqya) for her. Abu Bakr said, “Do it (incantation) with the Book of Allah.”  (Muwatta Imam Malik R.A) Book 50, Hadith 50.4.11)

Respecting Non-Muslims ,Even after their death:

So many idiotic groups in the name of Islam, distorting it’s true message, disrespecting dead bodies and even mutating  bodies of the dead people!

Sahih Muslim: It is narrated on the authority of Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah: there passed a bier and the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him) stood up for it and we also stood up along with him. We said: Messenger of Allah, that was the bier of a Jewess. Upon this he remarked: Verily, death is a matter of consternation, so whenever you come across a bier stand up.  (Book 004, Hadith 2095)

Sahih Muslim: It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Abu Laila that while Qais b. Sa’d and Sahl b. Hunaif were both in Qadislyya a bier passed by them and they both stood up. they were told that it was the bier of one of thepeople of the land (non-Muslim). they said that a bier passed before the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him) and he stood up. He was told that he (the dead man) was a Jew. Upon this he remarked: Was he not a human being or did he not have a soul? And in the hadith narrated by ‘Amr b. Murra with the same chain of transmitters, (the words) are:” there passed a bier before us.”  (Book 004, Hadith 2098)
